Program Overview

The College of Art and Design values innovation in both education and continuous development; The Fashion Design Department within the College adopts the same values and academic standards.

The Fashion Design Program within the College of Art and Design will be a huge addition to the undergraduate educational programs at AASTMT. Fashion Design is a multi-disciplinary filed. While it involves the aesthetics of design application, additional aspects include clothing manufacturing and the influence of perceived beauty in the cultural dimensions. The history of the field speaks of different trends and variations over time and place. The program will introduce Fashion Design to its students through separate streams of courses in an integrated manner, supporting progressive development. The program offers a sufficient number of elective courses, which cover fields of knowledge that are carefully selected to suit the urgent need in the market. This will provide many opportunities for the graduates to flourish and serve the industry in a creative and unprecedented way in the region.

The Fashion Design Program offered by the College of Art and Design will not only seek the validation of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities (SCU) and follow the rules and regulations of the National Quality Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation (NAQAA), but also, will seek international validation and accreditation from relevant international organizations. The Program will take a dynamic approach and continue to look for opportunities in cooperation with international colleges/departments that are pioneering in this field.

The main objective of the Fashion Design Program is achieving excellency in all provided educational services, thought the effective implementation of continuous improvement concept, as well as the success in obtaining and renewal of all local and international accreditation.

Adopting the multi-disciplinary approach in teaching courses and providing knowledge within the College of Art and Design will facilitate benefiting from the competent faculty members in the College of Engineering, College of Media, and College of Business, which are in the same campus. These faculty members have increased drastically in the last years in numbers, and in quality as well. Their last published research in highly ranked and prominent scientific journals, will form the solid foundation for the newly born college. High admission requirements combined with a competitive system in scholarships will be applied to attract high quality and applicable students. The continuous development of education resources, labs, and other facilities will form a great force for fashion program to grow.

The Industrial Advisory Committee’s recommendations in its last meeting encouraged AASTMT for entering new grounds in education in its course of supporting the national industries. All five programs within the college of Art of Design are prepared to serve this purpose, specifically with its multi-disciplinary nature.

The Fashion Design Program will play a proactive role in the future of Art serving industry concept in the region. Not only relying on the multi-disciplinary approach adopted, but also benefiting from the solid base of knowledge, facilities, research outcomes, and faculty members of the College of Engineering.
