Program Overview


Political Science as a major offers a solid undergraduate education in the liberal arts and sciences. Such study prepares the graduate for a variety of careers by emphasizing the acquisition of skills in communication and analysis; and by encouraging independent thought, tolerance, and informed interest in current affairs. The ability to define a problem and contribute to its solution is highly valued in a variety of employment settings, as are skills in writing research, and evaluation. These are the very elements that characterize a liberal arts education, like that offered in the political science major at CMT. Today's graduate can expect to change jobs a number of times, and even to have more than one career, and political science is excellent preparation for the flexibility required in the modern employment market.

Political Science focuses on the theory and the practice of governments. Political science students have the advantage of learning and knowing about government policies, rules, regulations, political analysis, comparative politics, international relations, international law, international organization. In addition to knowledge and learning Business Program related subjects, knowledge that is increasingly important in today's business world.

The Political Science Department combines the study of Political Science and Business Administration. It offers a major specialization in Political Science and a sub-specialization (Minor) from the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Business Information system, and Management of Media Organizations. This opens additional opportunities to work in banks and multinational organizations.

Governmental Institutions: The Political Science department prepares you to become a member in diplomatic and foreign services by providing exclusive subjects within the study plan that equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the Foreign Ministry test (Diplomatic corps). Other career opportunities within this sector include: Research Analyst, Public Policy Analyst, Public Relation Specialist, Political consultant, and political campaign staff.

International Organizations: The study of politics is not simply about turning you into a politician but also about teaching you to become a critical thinker, and a researcher; which, in turn, prepares you for a variety of promising career options in international Organizations, such as the United nations and its different agencies.
