Year 1

  • Applied Academic Skills (20 credits): Develop academic skills for successful completion of Level 4 and progression to further undergraduate study
  • Food Choice: People And Planet (40 credits): Understand the impact of food choices on people and the planet
  • Fundamentals Of Food And Nutrition: Composition, Safety And Nutrient Function (40 credits): Introduce students to the micro/macronutrients, non-nutrients, anti-nutrients, and their functions
  • Physiology And Biochemistry For Nutrition (20 credits): Introduce students to core principles in physiology and biochemistry with a specific emphasis on the physiology of the gastrointestinal tract and the metabolism of macronutrients

Year 2

  • Applied Nutrition: Populations, Policy And Practice (20 credits): Enhance students’ critical approach in understanding how nutrition policy, strategy, and initiatives can be applied to influence population health outcomes
  • Nutrition And Health In The Digital Age (20 credits): Broaden awareness of the diversity of the digital world, specifically in relation to nutrition and health
  • Nutrition In Health And Disease: Meeting Specific Needs (40 credits): Explore diet, physical activity, nutrition policy, and dietary guidelines through the lifecycle and how these are shaped by physiological and biochemical changes
  • Personal And Professional Development (40 credits): Provide opportunities for students to prepare for and experience work environment(s) relevant to their sector and reflect on and hone personal and professional skills

Year 3

  • Food And Nutrition Consultancy Challenge (40 credits): Take a practical and applied ‘consultancy’ approach, developing and presenting solutions to real-world food
    utrition challenges on behalf of a real client
  • Food And Nutrition Research (40 credits): Equip students with a sound working understanding of research methods and methodologies relevant to food and nutrition
  • Wellbeing Service Provision (20 credits): Acquire knowledge and understanding of wellbeing service provision and develop practical skills relevant to the successful design, delivery, and evaluation of wellbeing services

  • Global Issues In Nutrition And Health (20 credits): Widen students’ appreciation and understanding of a range of contemporary, developing, and global issues in nutrition and public health
