Medicines Optimisation in Community Pharmacy

Course aim

This course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to optimize medicines use in community pharmacy settings.


Course content

The course covers the following topics:


  • Medicines optimization principles and practices
  • Community pharmacy services and their role in medicines optimization
  • Patient assessment and consultation skills
  • Medicines management and safety
  • Evidence-based practice and research skills

Teaching and learning

The course is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, and practical sessions. Students will have the opportunity to engage with experienced practitioners and academics in the field.


Entry requirements

  • A degree in pharmacy or a related field
  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience in community pharmacy

Assessment

Assessment will be through a combination of written assignments, case studies, and a final examination.


CPD award

This course is accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and is recognized as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) award.
