Program Overview


Mental Health and Addictions Worker Intensive (accelerated)

10 months – Ontario College Diploma

Overview

Prepare for frontline practice as a health professional in social and health agencies in this highly collaborative and experiential program. Specific topics include interviewing and counselling, crisis intervention, and recovery strategies. Main themes include trauma-informed practice and concurrent disorders. In-class training is followed by a 420-hour community placement.


Available for applicants with a University degree in a related field, and internal graduates from a related program (e.g., Indigenous Wellness and Addictions Prevention, Community and Justice Services, Social Service Worker).


Admission Requirements

Available for applicants with a University degree in a related field, and internal graduates from a related program (e.g., IWAP, CJS, SSW).


If English is not your first language you must provide proof of English competency.

Students are eligible to pursue certification as a Canadian Certified Addiction Counselor (CCAC).
