Program Overview
Social Service Worker Intensive (accelerated)
Overview
This 10-month intensive program is intended for graduates of university degree programs in the Humanities or Social Sciences or diploma programs in a related human services field. [Mental Health and Addictions, Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Nursing, Gerontology, Early Childhood Education, Recreation, Community and Justice Services or others to be determined by the Program Co-ordinator.]
Applicants must have completed 40 hours of direct experience with clients in a social agency.
Following the eight month in-class portion, students will have a two-month field placement opportunity in a community agency.
Admission Requirements
- University Degree or an Ontario College Diploma or advanced diploma in one of the following human services programs: Mental Health and Addictions, Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Nursing, Gerontology, Early Childhood Education, Recreation, Community and Justice Services or others to be determined by the Program Coordinator.
- Must have a minimum of 40 hours of direct experience with clients in a social service agency. An evaluation form attesting to the satisfactory completion of these hours must be submitted by an agency representative.
- If English is not your first language you must provide proof of English competency.
