Establishing a Contracting Small Business in Ontario Stacked Microcredential Program

Overview

The Establishing a Contracting Small Business in Ontario stacked micro-credential program allows individuals already experienced in trades or construction to develop the skills and knowledge required to set up and operate their own enterprise. Students will develop a viable business plan that will meet industry-specific regulatory requirements and establish the foundation needed to begin their business operations. With a specific focus on doing business in Ontario, participants will build the skills and knowledge needed to comply with relevant health and safety regulations, follow requirements of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB), adhere to industry and labour laws, and fulfill obligations relating to mandatory employee training.


Admission Requirements

You may enroll in a Continuing Education course at Canadore College if you are 19 years of age or older or if you have earned an Ontario Secondary School Diploma/Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.

  • MCC015 - Business Planning for Contractors (Micro-credential)
  • MCC016 - Safety, Labour and Licensing Regulatory Requirements (Micro-credentials)
  • MCC017 - Operating a Contracting Small Business
  • MCC018 - Construction Contracting Law and Procedures

Register for Spring 2023, Fall 2023, or Winter 2024.
