Program Overview

Community Based Participatory and Action Research (Certificate)

Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Community-Based Participatory Action Research prepares you to participate in and lead collaborative research efforts in local communities. Rather than an outsider going into a community, assessing the needs they have and suggesting solutions, community-based participatory action research seeks input from the community itself. The goal is fostering collaboration (including students), engaging everyone in reflective practice and reciprocal learning, and ultimately building the capacity of the community to create the needed change. The graduate certificate program - which is a 12-credit, fully online, asynchronous certificate comprised of 7.5-week courses - builds the knowledge and skills to effectively foster this collaboration.
