Overview

The University of Arizona offers two graduate pathways in Geographic Information Systems Technology (GIST): an M.S. degree in GIST, available in person or online, and an online-only Graduate Certificate in Professional Geographic Information Systems Technology (P-GIST). The P-GIST Graduate Certificate provides in-depth training if you are seeking employment in the high-growth geospatial industry. The comprehensive, nine-credit curriculum, which includes classes like Remote Sensing Science, integrates three fields: GIScience, GISystems and geospatial technology. It combines these with top-level management skills, making for a sought-after set of acuity and knowledge ideal for careers in all sectors - from government and corporate to nonprofit and academia.

Graduate College Admissions Requirements

• An awarded four-year undergraduate bachelor degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable international degree recognized by the home country Ministry of Education.
• Proof of English proficiency is required for international applicants who hold citizenship from a country where English is not the official language.
• Minimum GPA of 2.75 based on a 4.0 scale for Certificate applicants.

Additional Requirements

• Individual programs may have additional requirements, such as a higher minimum GPA or test scores.
• Applicants will also be required to submit a statement of purpose and at least one letter of recommendation.
