Program Overview


Irish and Spanish

Overview

This course will provide students with the opportunity to study Irish and Spanish to degree level, while also exploring the literature, culture, and history of Ireland and the Spanish-speaking world.


Course Structure

The course is divided into four stages, each lasting one academic year. The first two stages will provide students with a solid foundation in the Irish and Spanish languages, as well as an introduction to the literature, culture, and history of Ireland and the Spanish-speaking world. The third stage will be spent abroad, where students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture of a Spanish-speaking country. The final stage will provide students with the opportunity to specialize in specific areas of Irish and Spanish studies, such as literature, culture, and history.


Entry Requirements

  • ABB including A-level Irish and Spanish
  • Note: for applicants who have not studied A-level Spanish then AS-level Spanish grade B would be acceptable in lieu of A-level Spanish
  • A maximum of one BTEC/OCR Single Award or AQA Extended Certificate will be accepted as part of an applicant's portfolio of qualifications with a Distinction* being equated to a grade A at A-level and a Distinction being equated to a grade B at A-level
