LAND241 Petroleum Fundamentals
Course Description
Beginning with the early history of oil and gas production through to the current era, this course provides an overview of the Canadian petroleum industry. The focus will be on the petroleum industry from basic mineral geology through to production and transportation. Mineral and seismic exploration is discussed, as well as drilling practices in the upstream sector of the industry. The downstream sector is also introduced including production, processing, transportation, refining, and marketing. Sustainable development is examined in terms of environmental and economic considerations.
