POPR160 Work Practicum

Overview

The POPR160 Work Practicum is a 70-contact-hour program designed for students in the Power Engineering Program (PWENG1). The program provides students with hands-on experience in an industry setting, where they will be exposed to operating terminology and daily routine and duties performed by a Power Engineer.

  • Provide students with hands-on experience in an industry setting
  • Expose students to operating terminology and daily routine and duties performed by a Power Engineer
  • Offer students a variety of tasks in line with their learning objectives

Program Structure

  • Practicum placements will be arranged only upon recommendation of the Instructor
  • Efforts will be made to provide placements in line with student preferences
  • Employers will be requested to provide a variety of tasks in line with the student’s learning objectives
  • If a practicum placement with an actual employer cannot be offered, students will complete their practicum in the Northern Lights College lab under supervision of their Instructor
