Overview
The Higher Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management has been developed by London School of Business and Finance to give students the best possible preparation for a successful career in one of a wide range of industries. Graduates of the course will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the basic underlying academic concepts and principles associated with the broader discipline of Logistics Management. Holders of the Higher Diploma will be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge and critical understanding of the major theories in business and management, and of the way in which those theories have developed.
Programme Aims
- Demonstrate knowledge of organisations, the external environment in which they operate and how they are managed
- Evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems related to the subjects studied
- Apply theory to the solution of familiar and unfamiliar problems within the organisation
- Demonstrate proficiency in quantitative methods and computing techniques and know how to use these techniques and methods effectively across a range of problems
- Identify and evaluate the organization’s strength and industry position and understanding the externals factors that may influence that position
- Understand the roles of purchasing and materials management or supply management in the realm of logistics and supply chain management

Module Descriptions
Principles of Management
The aim of this module is to provide students with an introduction to the principles and practices of management. Students will learn how to examine the nature of managerial work including strategy, operations and project management, control, ethics, structures and culture, organisational power, groups and teams, individual performance and stress, social responsibility and change management.
Quantitative method
This course introduces the basic concept of quantitative approaches to decision making. It introduces students to basic concepts of and methods of qualitative methods used by Management. Enables students to understand how to collate and present data, apply and range of statistical and operations research techniques.
Principles of Accounting
This module introduces students to the foundation and understanding of the principles and concepts of Accounting. Students will be exposed to the application of these accounting concepts in the preparation of financial statements for use by individuals, business, non-profit organisations and government institutions. Students will also be developing expertise in using these accounting principles and concepts in their analytical approach to financial problem-solving.
Principles of Economics
The module is an introduction to basic economic principles and concepts and how they apply to the business environment. It introduces students to the global economy and reviews both the national and the global market. It establishes the framework for future courses by providing students with an overview of fundamental micro and macroeconomic concepts.
Principles of Marketing
This course seeks to equip students with an understanding of the role of marketing. It outlines the fundamental principles, concepts and techniques. It provides students with the opportunity examine marketing theories and approaches and the value of marketing management in achieving corporate success in an increasing competitive business environment.
Data Analytics
This module will introduce students to the concepts and methods of business information technology and its application to practical business situations. The goal is to help students to learn how to use and manage information technologies, conduct electronic commerce, improve decision-making, and gain competitive advantage in the marketplace. It therefore emphasizes on the role of Internet technologies as a technology platform for electronic business, commerce, and collaboration within and among corporations.

This module focuses international Logistics and Supply Chain Management, key of which involves the integration of information and strategic decisions on transportation, inventory, material flow, and resources
Supply Chain Management
This module focuses on international Logistics and Supply Chain Management, key of which involves the integration of information and decisions on transportation, inventory, material flow, and resources.
Operations Management
This module will provide students with a thorough background in the areas of management information systems (MIS) and operations management (OM). The main topics of discussion include the decision processes, information and decision technologies, information strategy, operations management and operations research. The module maintains a good balance between theoretical and practical aspects and encourages students to achieve expertise in both parts.
Warehouse Management
This module introduces students to the functions and activities in the warehouse covering receipt, storage and movement of raw materials or finished goods to intermediate storage locations or to final customer in a multi-echelon model of distribution. The objective of warehousing management is to help in optimal cost of timely order fulfilment by managing the resources and inventory economically.
International Shipping Management
This module introduces students to the process and procedures of transporting freight by sea and air. The coverage also provides students with the necessary knowledge and insights into shipping terms and import export documentation with a focus on international and local contents.
Business Logistics Strategy
This module focuses on identifying the organization’s strength and industry position and understanding the externals factors that may influence that position. It concerns strategic decisions about choice of products and technologies to meet the needs of customers and wants, competitive advantage and exploiting or creating new opportunities.
International Purchasing Management
This module focuses on the roles of purchasing and materials management or supply management in the realm of logistics and supply chain management. Students will have the knowledge and understanding of the acquisition processes, evaluation and selection of suppliers, quality and strategic cost management.
Global Distribution Management
This module introduces the different modes of transportation and the different strategies shippers adopt in global transportation. Transport logistics is one of the most critical aspects of business logistics to satisfy customer demands.
Business Law
This module will provide students with the general knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of business law in Singapore. It covers major topics discussed in business law courses providing clear examples and simplified cases. The module contains many practical points and common clauses when drafting a contract.
Strategic Management
This module introduces the student to the theory and practice of strategic management, and the holistic way in which it draws upon a wide variety of managerial functions in its creation. It will provide students with an understanding of the key concepts, theories and process integral to the strategic management of organisations.
Human resource management
This module introduces relevant concepts and theories in the field of Human Resource Management and provides students with the knowledge, understanding and key skills in relation to HRM. Provides an insight into international diversity in HRM, allowing comparison of the role, activities and institutional frameworks of HRM in different national contexts.

Assessment, Graduation, and Awards
- Assessment Profile:
- Coursework: 50%
- Final Exam: 50%
- Graduation Requirement:
- Students must complete and pass all required modules in this course.
- Structure and Assessment:
- Student must achieve an overall passing grade of 40%. If students fail to achieve an overall passing grade of 40%, students will be permitted one retake attempt in each failed assessment and failure of this retake will require students to sit the failed module(s) again in full prior to additional retake attempt.
- Exit Award:
- Students who are for any reason unable to complete the Higher Diploma and who have successfully passed a minimum of 8 modules are eligible for an Exit Award of a Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Local Students Entry Requirements
- Minimum Academic Requirement:
- Two passes in GCE A Level Examinations; or
- Pass in appropriate Foundation / Certificate programme; or
- Other similar qualifications; or
- Work Experience:
- Mature Entry Route (MER) Minimum age of 21 plus work experience (2 years min) will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
- Minimum English Language Requirement:
- Achieved a grade C6 or better in English language O level, or
- IELTS 5.5/TOEFL 550
- Completed LSBF Preparatory Course in English Upper Intermediate Level
- Minimum Age:
- 18 years old
