The Award in NGO Management is an online programme designed to assist officers and staff of voluntary organisations in overcoming the challenges of managing an organisation. Its aim is to enhance their capacity to increase social impact, achieve organisational goals, and ensure sustainability over time. The programme covers core concepts and theories relevant to NGO management and, most importantly, provides a pragmatic perspective for their implementation within the NGO environment.

Programme Objectives
By the end of this programme, the learner will be able to:
- Describe Governance Structures: Explain the structure and operations of the Office of the Commissioner of Voluntary Organisations in Malta or the Office of the Commissioner of Citizens in Cyprus.
- Develop Grant Proposals: Formulate comprehensive grant proposals tailored to the needs of NGO organisations.
- Organise Fundraising Activities: Plan and execute effective fundraising activities to support the NGO’s initiatives.
- Utilise ICT Tools: Identify and match appropriate ICT tools available in the market to enhance NGO operations.
- Resource Management: Assess and plan the optimal utilisation of resources within the NGO.
- Task Planning: Develop structured plans for various tasks, including planning functions, models, and horizons.
- Control Principles: Define and apply the basic principles of control within an organisation to ensure effective governance.
- Risk Control Planning: Design and implement a comprehensive risk control process within the organisation.
- Project Development and Implementation: Plan the development and execution of projects to meet the goals of the NGO.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Establish a customer-centric approach, focusing on the needs of beneficiaries served by the NGO.
- Data Analysis and Presentation: Conduct data analysis, interpret findings, and present data effectively in both primary and secondary research contexts.
Entry Requirements
- EQF/MQF Level 4 or an equivalent certificate.
- Language Proficiency: Students whose first language is not English and whose previous qualifications were obtained in a language other than English must provide evidence of IELTS level 5 results or an equivalent qualification.
- IT Skills: Basic IT literacy in using Microsoft Office packages.
- Note: Prospective students aged 25 and over may apply without a Level 4 diploma, provided they submit evidence through a CV and a work reference demonstrating at least 2 years of relevant full-time experience (or 4 years of part-time experience) in a voluntary organisation (VO) or non-governmental organisation (NGO).

Teaching & Learning
The Award in NGO Management is delivered entirely online, providing flexibility and accessibility for participants. Learners can access course materials, resources, and interactive modules through the Advenio eAcademy online platform.
Assessment Methods
Participants in the Award in NGO Management programme will be evaluated through a combination of assignments, discussions, and tutorial participation. The assessment components are as follows:
- Assignment / Case-Study: One assignment or case study, which contributes 50% towards the overall module grade.
- Forum Discussions: Two forum discussions, contributing 30% towards the overall module grade.
- Tutorial Participation: Attendance and participation in two tutorial sessions, which contribute 20% towards the overall module grade.
To successfully pass each module, participants must achieve an aggregate score of 50% from the assessment activities. Additionally, a pass mark of 50% or above in all five modules is mandatory for the successful completion of the Award in NGO Management (10 ECTS) programme.
