Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify for admission:
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on all previous college coursework.
    • Completion of entrance competencies as listed for a total of 66 hours of core credit.
    • Minimum 23 years of age.

    • Fully online courses designed for mid-career professionals who want to transition into a leadership role, or seasoned managers with some college credits who desire to earn a bachelor’s degree.
  • MICROCREDENTIALS IN RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE
    • Designed for individuals who have a bachelor’s degree and want to pursue a career in risk management and insurance, and insurance professionals seeking to earn digital badges or achieve a CPCU®, CIC or CRM designation.
  • BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE
    • This course is designed for students looking for a traditional four-year degree in risk management and insurance. Courses are taught at the Montgomery campus with a focus on ethical leadership.

Meet the RMI Faculty

  • Ed Pappanastos, PhD
    • Ed Pappanastos, PhD, serves as the department chair of the Stumbaugh School of Risk Managment & Insurance. He is the former chair of the Department of Economics, Finance, Risk Management & Insurance at the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University. He has spent many years collaborating with professionals in the industry and holds the ASLI (Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance) designation. (Pappanastos teaches Risk Managment & Insurance and Insurance Operations.)
  • Patsy Hughes
    • Patsy Hughes is the Consumer Outreach Coordinator at the Alabama Department of Insurance. She has 32 years of experience in the insurance industry and holds various insurance designations and awards. (Hughes teaches Property & Casualty Insurance and Life & Health Insurance.)
  • Kayla Frisby, JD
    • Kayla Frisby, JD, has 15 years of experience in the legal field having served as a staff attorney on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals and then as general counsel for a large detention and security contractor and manufacturer. In her current role at Webster Henry, she focuses her practice on insurance and corporate defense and general liability. (Frisby teaches Insurance Law.)
