Overview
The Software Development program at Herzing College is a 12-month diploma program that includes a 6-week internship. The program is designed to provide students with the practical programming skills employers want, as well as real work experience to prepare them for their first job.
What Does a Software Developer Do?
Software developers design, create, and maintain computer applications. They consider what a piece of software is supposed to do, then come up with a solution that meets both user and business needs.

With a Ph.D from Malaysia, I embarked on a three-year journey as a university professor in Malaysia, deepening my understanding of academic practices and guiding students through their educational paths. My B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Tehran University in Iran laid the foundation, complemented by hands-on experience in a research center. After moving to Canada, I honed my programming skills at Marketing Websites Inc.
Currently, I teach software development courses at Herzing College, seamlessly merging industry and academic expertise. My teaching passion is rooted in unlocking students’ potential and instilling a genuine love for learning. Committed to bridging theory with practice, I ensure students receive a comprehensive education.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I derive joy from engaging in activities like yoga and meditation, which contribute to my overall well-being and provide an extra layer of motivation.
Naresh Nagandla
Instructor, Software Development
Naresh has a total of 16 years of experience in the IT industry and has worked for several clients across the globe. He started his career as a web developer and has worked with multiple technologies like Java, .Net, Visual basic, Angular, React, MSSQL, etc.
He is passionate about online teaching, and is looking forward to being a mentor and a great support for the students.
Admission Requirements
- Minimum of a Canadian high school grade 12 or equivalent, or a mature student
- Pass an entrance test administered by Herzing College
- Be interviewed in detail regarding interest in the field
