Medical Esthetics Nursing (MDN)
Overview
As esthetic procedures rise in popularity, there is a growing need for licensed professionals with the skills and expertise to perform cosmetic treatments. Cosmetic environments provide an opportunity for licensed nurses to expand their career opportunities beyond the traditional healthcare setting.
This graduate certificate prepares Canadian registered nurses or registered practical nurses with the knowledge and hands-on experience to perform medical esthetics treatments. This includes procedures such as laser hair removal, microneedling, anti-aging treatments, chemical peels, and cosmetic injections.
Admission Requirements
- Proof of registration as a licensed nurse (RN, RPN or NP) is required. Refer to the admission requirements for details.

Throughout this program, you will develop the following skills:
- Conduct client evaluations to recommend appropriate treatment plans and procedures
- Operate and maintain a range of specialized cosmetic equipment and technology
- Adhere to relevant health and safety regulations while performing medical esthetics treatments

Work Experience
The Esthetic Clinic: Evolutions Spa
Seneca's on-campus esthetic clinic, Evolutions Spa, lets students practice their services while working under the guidance of qualified instructors.
Field Placement
A field placement allows students to apply their knowledge while gaining work experience at an external clinic. Students will study the role of a medical esthetics nurse in a spa setting and practice skills under the supervision of an experienced practitioner.

Program and Course Delivery
This program is offered in Seneca's hybrid delivery format with some courses available in Seneca's flexible delivery format. Some coursework is online, and some must be completed in person. Students will need to come on campus to complete in-person learning requirements.
