Program Overview
This program is tailored for students who need extra credits to meet the admission requirements for a certificate, diploma, or degree program. After completing this program in one to three semesters, students will be well-prepared to apply for a postsecondary program or even start an apprenticeship, opening up new career opportunities.

About the Program
The Academic Upgrading program is designed to provide students with the necessary credits to meet the admission requirements for a postsecondary program. Students have the flexibility to choose between daytime and evening classes, making it easier to fit their studies into their schedule. Additionally, students will gain access to valuable career counselling services and receive personalized assistance with their college applications, ensuring they have the support they need to succeed.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the Academic Upgrading program, students should be at least 19 years old or a mature student. The program coordinator will work with students to determine program suitability and their entry point.

- MTH098: Grade 11 U/C Math Equivalency (MCF3M)

Modes of Delivery
Academic Upgrading course delivery options include:
- In-Person Learning: programs or courses are fully in-person, and students are required to come to campus.
- Flexible: students have a choice of coming to campus for an in-person experience or learning remotely online. Professors teach live on site to students in a classroom or lab and this is broadcasted in real-time to students choosing to learn online.
- Online Synchronous & Asynchronous: includes some scheduled class time and some independent study. Depending on the professor, this scheduled time may be used for drop-in sessions and/or live lectures or assessments.
Cost
This is a tuition-free program sponsored by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development.
Student Supports
Academic Upgrading students aged 19-29 who meet the criteria may receive additional supports, including:
- 30 financial awards and bursaries of $1,000

- Aged 19-29
- The first in their family to attend postsecondary education
- A newcomer to Canada, racialized, or Indigenous
- From a low-income or under-resourced community
