Algebra Bernays University launches Croatia’s first private doctoral programme in Computer & Data Science

Programme Highlights

• Duration: 3 years, full-time (flexible extension possible)
• Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer & Data Science – joint award, automatically recognised across the European Higher Education Area
• Language: English
• Locations: Zagreb (Croatia) & Novo Mesto (Slovenia) – just one hour apart by motorway
• Infrastructure: Access to theNimbus private cloud (up to 4 000 VMs and GPU super-servers) and theRudy HPC cluster (736 CPU cores, terabytes of RAM)
• Supervision: Principal supervisor + co-supervisor (one from each country) chosen from more than forty internationally cited scholars

Interdisciplinary Curriculum

• Core modules in scientific method and advanced machine learning
• Electives such as:
  • Time-Series Analysis for Climate Signals
  • Intellectual-Property Valuation
  • Graph-Theory Frontiers
  • Cognitive Science for Human-Centred AI
• Doctoral seminars build skills in reproducibility, Horizon Europe proposal design and science communication
• Short study visits to partner laboratories—from ESA research centres to venture-builder accelerators—let candidates test ideas in real-world contexts

Embedded in Active Research

• The two partner institutions currently run over seventy competitive research projects funded by the European Commission and national science foundations
• Working on these projects, candidates learn the complete innovation cycle: scouting calls, writing proposals, budgeting work packages, delivering milestones and reporting impact

• Practical experience dramatically increases employability
