Program Overview
The Master of Education program is grounded in two main purposes:
- to provide a space for you to understand your professional knowledge; and
- to make meaningful links between this knowledge and the conceptual and theoretical framework of educational research.
Program at a Glance
StFX offers an online Master of Education in Administration & Policy and a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction. There are three options by which you may complete the requirements for the MEd degree: a course-based route, a project route, or a thesis route. The degree fulfills the requirements of the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for an increase in level of teacher certification.

Residences
O'Regan Hall
Opened in 2013, O'Regan Hall is among the newer residences that can be found on StFX campus. The main floor offers a large lobby, movie room, exercise room, and laundry facilities. Each floor also possesses a fully equipped kitchen for students. Natural light floods the spacious fourth-floor lounge which showcases coffered vaulted ceilings.
Mount Saint Bernard
Originally founded by Bishop John Cameron as Mount Saint Bernard College, this building possesses a rich history dating back to 1883. Those in residence at Mount Saint Bernard can enjoy such amenities as lounge and study space, laundry facilities, and storage rooms. Students in Nursing, Colloquiums, Education, and those who may require flexible contracts are encouraged to live in Mount Saint Bernard.

StFX is located in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded ancestral territory of the Mi'kmaw people. The Mi'kmaw name for Antigonish is Nalikitquniejk, meaning ‘place where branches are torn off.’
