Overview
The B.S. in Business Management with a Concentration in Criminal Justice is a unique program that combines the skills and knowledge of business management with the critical competencies of criminal justice. This program is designed to prepare students to manage the security forces, cybersecurity professionals, and other experts who stay one-step ahead of fraudsters and other white-collar criminals.
Program Details
- A partnership between two colleges: The program is a collaboration between the Pompea College of Business and the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences.
- Faculty expertise: Faculty members from the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences will teach the required courses in criminal justice, bringing their real-world experience and knowledge to the classroom.
- Practical experience: Students will engage in high-impact practical experiences, including writing an entrepreneurial business plan, completing a consulting project, and attending functions sponsored by the College.
- Internship opportunities: Students will complete at least one internship, providing opportunities to network with alumni and established professionals.
Curriculum
- Management of Human Resources: Learn about key functional areas associated with managing human resources, including recruitment and selection, manpower planning, training and development, compensation, and employee and labor/management relations.
- Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship: Understand the decision-making processes and strategies followed by entrepreneurs and business start-ups.
- Business Capstone: Examine how organizations exercise business strategy to achieve competitive advantage, using analytic frameworks, case studies, simulations, and live client examples.
- Introduction to Criminal Justice: Survey the criminal justice system, with emphasis on prosecution, corrections, and societal reaction to offenders.
- Principles of Criminal Investigation: Learn about conducting crime scene searches, interviewing witnesses, interrogating suspects, and employing special techniques in particular kinds of investigations.
- White-Collar Crime Investigation: Examine the history, philosophy, evolution, and types of white-collar crimes, and explore how and why such crimes are committed.
