Description

The Translation and Interpretation Undergraduate Program at Eastern Mediterranean University aims to educate students and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to satisfy the need for communication and translation in various fields, including international relations, economics, law, and politics.

General Information

The program provides specialized teaching in Turkish-English translation and interpretation with a specially designed curriculum consisting of core and general culture courses. All students are required to take a French course during 7 semesters. Students can also benefit from other foreign language courses such as German, Russian or Greek.

Education

The courses on the curriculum are designed to help students acquire the knowledge and skills required by the profession of translation and interpretation. The curriculum consists mainly of practice-oriented courses besides field-specific courses, offering courses from other disciplines such as technology, politics, social sciences, economics, literature, communication, and media.

Facilities

The program's technology Computer Assisted Translation Labs provide opportunities for the use of analog and digital educational materials, helping students enhance their knowledge and skills more efficiently and in a shorter space of time. The labs offer students the possibility of getting to know and using various software programs used in translation and interpretation and to have practice in audio-visual and media translation.

Graduates of the program may pursue employment opportunities in various ministries, international organizations, international companies, state offices, media and tourism sectors, banks, universities, import-export sectors, and freelance translation and interpretation.
