Outline

Learning Objective

The module will consist of lectures, case presentations and discussion as well as panel discussions. Modules will be delivered by national and international expert facilitators from a wide range of disciplinary and clinical backgrounds.


This module will discuss the principles of advanced assessment of hearing and rehabilitation in children from birth. The module will focus on the behavioural assessment and rehabilitation of hearing loss in infants and younger children within the context of child-centred and family friendly services, as well as the epidemiology and differential diagnosis of hearing loss in this population.


Module Content

On successful completion of this offering, students should be able to:


  • Characterise a wide range of behavioural assessments of hearing for infants and children
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to select appropriate assessments based on the maturational and developmental stages of infancy and childhood
  • Critically evaluate theories underlying the management of hearing loss, including hearing aid fitting, verification and validation for children.

Timetable with exact location details in Brookfield Health & Science Complex will be confirmed closer to the date and once registration is complete. The duration of the course is two days.


There are two options for taking this module non credit bearing for CPD purposes as outlined here or credit bearing see (for further information. Core modules (10 credits) are available annually and elective modules (5 credits) are available biannually.


CPD certificates will be issued upon completion of the module through canvas catalog UCC’s CPD platform. To register for the course you will be required to register with UCC open. All lecture materials will be made available to you on Canvas Catalog.
