Undergraduate Certificate in Leadership Development and Engagement
About
Housed in the Department of Educational Psychology and Higher Education, the Undergraduate Certificate in Leadership Development and Engagement (LDE) facilitates students’ understanding of and capacity for leadership in a variety of settings. Students examine various issues associated with working in communities and organizations such as power dynamics, social justice, and how identity influences communication and leadership. The certificate supplements other degree programs to support the growth of socially responsible leaders for an increasingly global and diverse world.
Learning Outcomes
- By the end of the program, students will be able to apply leadership theories to analyze leadership practices.
- By the end of the program, students will be able to describe the components of socially responsible leadership in a diverse and global world.
- By the end of the program, students will be able to evaluate leadership from a lens of inclusion and sense of belonging.
- By the end of the program, students will be able to define and discuss ethical decision making in leadership practice.
- By the end of the program, students will be able to demonstrate effective facilitation skills.
- By the end of the program, students will be able to articulate a personal theory of leadership.
Requirements
Certificate in Leadership Development and Engagement
The Certificate in Leadership Development and Engagement (LDE) helps undergraduate students enhance their leadership skills in their discipline and community.
