Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention

About

Our Certificate in Infection Prevention provides healthcare professionals with the formal training and knowledge they need to manage an effective infection prevention program to combat healthcare-associated infections such as CLABSI, SSI, and UAE. As a result of this training, nurses, health care administrators, laboratory technicians, and researchers will find a greater versatility and impact across health care venues including health care systems, health departments, hospitals, and clinics.

  • Our Certificate is the only Infection Prevention certificate in Nevada.
  • Our Certificate may be completed fully online and is comprised of 4 courses: Principles of Infection Prevention; Healthcare Associated Infections: Surveillance, Data, and Reports; Infection Prevention in Healthcare Facilities; and the choice of either Infectious Disease Epidemiology or Transmission of Infectious Diseases. Transmission of Infectious Diseases is the only course not offered online.
  • Our courses are designed by leaders in infectious disease with more than 25 years of cutting-edge industry experience.
  • The Certificate is open to applicants with at least a Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from a regionally accredited institution in a scientific discipline such as Nursing, Microbiology, or Public Health.

  • discuss the inter-relationship of hospital/healthcare facilities departments and IP,
  • analyze scientific data and publications

Plan Description

The Certificate in Infection Prevention is designed to provide a foundation in the development, management, and execution of a program for healthcare facilities, including advanced studies in epidemiology, statistics, disease transmission, and the hospital and healthcare environment. The Certificate is aimed at individuals with a Bachelor's degree who are currently practicing in infection prevention.


Plan Admission Requirements

  • All domestic and international applicants must review and follow the Graduate College Admission and Registration Requirements.

Graduate College Admission Requirements

  • Completed application in the Application Portal and non-refundable application fee.
  • Bachelor's Degree – You must hold a four-year baccalaureate from a regionally accredited institution or an approved equivalent.
  • Grade Point Average – You must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 (4.00=A) for the bachelor's degree or a minimum 3.00 (4.00=A) for the last two years (60 semester credits).
  • All applicants are required to submit an unofficial transcript from each postsecondary institution attended, showing all degrees and coursework, the dates awarded, and grades received. Official transcripts required upon admission.

  • EAB 725 - Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases
  • EGH 747 - Transmission of Infectious Disease

Certificate Requirements

  • This program is available In-Person, Blended (courses available in person and/or online), or Fully Online.
  • Completion of required coursework.
  • Each course must be completed with a minimum grade of "B", should a lower grade be earned the student will be placed on probation.

Plan Certificate Completion Requirements

Students may apply for graduation up to two semesters prior to completing their degree requirements. All required forms must be submitted to the graduate college via the Grad Rebel Gateway.
