Undergraduate Certificate in Commercial Music: World Percussion (Specialist)
About
The World Percussion Certificate provides students with a well-rounded program of study of world percussion in relation to commercial music. An understanding of historical elements in both traditional and contemporary settings is provided through MUS 125 (History of Rock) and MUS 127 (World’s Music Live) with performance application through MUS 166 (World Percussion Techniques) and MUS 167 (World Percussion Ensemble). Private lessons (MUSA and 1002) provide one on one attention to learn and refine world percussion instrument-specific skills.

Learning Outcomes
- Identify commercial music styles and analyze their applications in today's music world.
- Recognize style influences and create their own songs/arrangements using melody and chords
- Identify production approaches that define a variety of styles
- Recognize and analyze identifiable rhythms and progressions. Create your own rhythms and progressions.
