Advanced Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nurse Practitioner

About

Individuals who already have a master’s degree in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner and meet the admissions qualifications will be allowed to take courses as an advanced graduate certificate-seeking student.


The online Advanced Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nurse Practitioner program uses a variety of teaching strategies designed to actively engage students. Mandatory orientation sessions are held before the beginning of each spring semester to enhance the connections among students and with the nursing faculty. This certificate has mandatory on-campus sessions. Program start is contingent on class size.

  • Analyze patient data to determine appropriate and timely patient disposition including admission, discharge, observation, or transfer of emergency patients across the lifespan with unforeseen illness or injury of varying complexity.
  • Apply professional, legal and ethical practice standards in the evaluation and management of emergency patients across the lifespan with unforeseen illness or injury of varying complexity.
  • Articulate an understanding of the role of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner as a member of the interdisciplinary emergency healthcare team as well as patient care and department leader.

The Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management Cybersecurity is an online certificate offered by the Department of Criminal Justice.


The Emergency Management Cybersecurity graduate certificate program provides adaptable skills necessary for professionals in both public and private agencies to prepare for, respond to, and recover from cyber threats. The program is designed for individuals with diverse professional backgrounds, who do not require advanced technical training in cybersecurity, to upskill by acquiring knowledge in the areas of information technology, law, communication, and emergency management.


Though coursework and dynamic real-world activities, students will learn to develop business continuity and recovery strategies that identify mission essential functions and time-critical tasks, and will gain understanding of legal ramifications relevant to cybersecurity, in agencies with high regulatory frameworks. The program is designed for individuals who do not possess technological backgrounds, but instead have major operational responsibilities, that include mitigating cyber-related vulnerabilities, so that they are able to lead the preparation for, and response to, the ever-present danger of cyber-attacks.
