Overview

This micro-credential is designed to guide students through the requirements of writing for young people and introduce them to the landscape of Aotearoa children's authors. The course's main focus is on writing chapter books and short stories for children, but students will also have the opportunity to explore myth, folktales and fairy stories, children's non-fiction, and writing a picture book text.

What You Will Learn

The aim of this micro-credential is to develop skills for writing for children and developing critiquing skills in this genre. The target learner group is anyone who is interested in learning foundational knowledge of how to write for children.

Flexible Study Options

This micro-credential is worth 10 credits, and students can enrol in one micro-credential or study multiple separately. The micro-credentials will be taught online over a period of six weeks each, with a total of 12.5 hours per week. They have been developed for flexibility, so students can still work while they study.
