This programme is designed for individuals with prior knowledge of hairstyling, colouring tasks, and basic hair cutting techniques, who wish to develop skills and knowledge to become a professional hairstylist. On successful completion, students will have the knowledge, skills, and attributes to provide integrated fashion services as a professional hairstylist capable of operating under broad guidance.

What You Will Learn

  • Safe and professional practice skills working at our training salon, Te Whare Makawe

Course Related Costs

Entry Requirements

Domestic

  • New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 3)
  • OR an equivalent qualification, which may require a practical skills assessment

International

  • IELTS score of 5.5 (general or academic) with no individual band lower than 5 from one test taken in the preceding two years, or an equivalent

English Language

  • All applicants (international and domestic) for whom English or te reo Māori is not a first language need to provide evidence that they have the necessary English language proficiency required for the programme.
