Programme Overview
PhD Egyptology provides the opportunity to make a genuine scholarly contribution to the field, whether studying full-time or part-time. The Egyptology department offers access to a broad range of world-class resources, including the extensive Manchester Museum Ancient Egypt and Sudan Collection (comprising over 18,000 artifacts). In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF2021) Egyptology was assessed as part of The University of Manchester's 'Classics' submission and is ranked joint first in UK for research (overall GPA).
Fees
For entry in the academic year beginning September 2025, the tuition fees are as follows:

- International, including EU, students (per annum): £22,000
- PhD (part-time)
- UK students (per annum): £2,503
- International, including EU, students (per annum): £11,000
