MSc Strength and Conditioning Programme
The MSc Strength and Conditioning programme is designed to prepare aspiring coaches for careers at the forefront of athletic performance. The MSc Strength and Conditioning is formally endorsed by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) through its Education Recognition Program (ERP). As the world's leading membership organisation for strength and conditioning practitioners, the NSCA recognises academic institutions that meet its rigorous, standardised educational guidelines.
Programme Modules
- Strength and Conditioning Science (30 Credits): This module develops in-depth understanding of the physiological mechanisms and biomechanical principles underpinning strength and conditioning practice.
- Applied Performance Coaching (30 Credits): This module equips students with the knowledge and skills to critically assess athlete movement competency and design evidence-informed strength and conditioning programmes.
- Research Methods (30 Credits): This module provides essential knowledge and skills required to undertake independent or group-based research within the discipline.
- Professional Placement (30 Credits): This module supports students in developing practical, discipline-specific skills essential for professional practice and workplace readiness.
- Independent Project (60 Credits): This module guides students through an independent research project, contributing original knowledge to their field of study.
Programme Content
Students will gain a deep understanding of the physiological functioning of the human body during exercise and how it responds to physical activity. They will learn to design and implement sport-specific periodised training programmes tailored to different athletic populations.

Entry Requirements
- Academic Requirements: A second-class honours degree 2:2 or above in a sport or exercise science-related field.
- English Language Requirements:
- IELTS Academic: 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each band)
- TOEFL Internet-based: 79 (Reading min 18, Writing min 21, Listening min 17, Speaking min 20)
- Pearson PTE Academic: 51
