Graduate Outcomes

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts double degree leads to two separate qualifications. Upon graduation, students will have a double degree that is recognised by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board (VLAB) as satisfying the academic requirements for admission to practice in Victoria. No law degree enables students to practise law immediately; they must complete further training (Practical Legal Training) or supervised legal training by the Supreme Court of Victoria and obtain a practising certificate.

Graduates have gone on to work across a range of areas, including diplomacy and trade, human rights and international law, intellectual property and publishing, advertising, marketing, entertainment law, and international business. The double degree also offers opportunities for students to focus on issues of policy and governance in addition to direct legal services.

Student Testimonials

"I've taken a lot of gender studies electives in my Arts degree and learned a lot about feminist theory. I felt like the things that I had learned in my other degree really complemented my knowledge of the legal system in my Law degree.

When you're giving legal advice, you're not just talking about the law, you need to talk about all facets of the client's life. Gender dynamics really come into family law and impact the way that a client can take on your legal advice and follow it through. So I feel like my double degree really complemented my experience at Monash Law Clinics."

  • Thalia Thirunavukarasu, Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (2024)
