Advanced Finance - B6039
Overview
The Master of Advanced Finance is a postgraduate degree that provides students with advanced knowledge and skills in finance, preparing them for careers in investment banking, asset management, and financial markets. The program is designed to equip students with a deep understanding of financial markets, instruments, and practices, as well as the ability to analyze and solve complex financial problems.
Course Details
- Location: On-campus at Caulfield: Full time
- Duration: 1 or 1.5 years full-time, depending on prior qualifications and/or professional experience
- Start date: First semester (February) and Second semester (July)
- Qualification: Master of Advanced Finance
- Fees: A$56,800 (subject to change annually)
Entry Requirements
To be considered for entry to this course, students must satisfy the following entrance requirements:
- Qualifications: An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with a major or minor in finance with at least a high credit (65%) average or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA)
- English entry requirements: IELTS (Academic) 6.5 Overall score, with minimum band scores: Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0
- University entrance requirements: Minimum entrance requirements for admission to Monash University Australia
Course Structure
The course is structured in two parts: Part A. Mastery knowledge and Part B. Electives.
Part A. Mastery knowledge
These units will develop students' understanding of the finance discipline and will enable them to provide discipline-based solutions within a business, professional or public context.
Part B. Electives
These units will enable students to further develop and consolidate their knowledge of their degree. Electives may be taken from study tours, consulting projects or industry placements. Alternatively, students can select units from across the University in which they are eligible to enrol.
Partner with another course
Double degree courses allow students to study towards two different degrees at the same time, and graduate with two separate qualifications. The Master of Advanced Finance can be partnered with the following courses:

- Global Business and Advanced Finance
- Management and Advanced Finance
Scholarships
Monash University offers over 360 types of scholarships, valued at up to $280,000. Some scholarships offer one-off payments while others continue for the length of the course.
Enrolment Obligations
International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.
