Overview of the Commerce and Arts Double Degree
The Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts double degree is a comprehensive course that combines the skills and knowledge of both commerce and arts. This double degree provides students with a broad foundation in commerce and arts, as well as the opportunity to specialize in a particular area of interest.
Course Structure
The double degree course is structured in three equal parts:
- A. Commerce specified study: This will provide students with a broad foundation for their study of commerce and expose them to several commerce disciplines.
- B. Commerce listed major: This will provide students with a focused program of study that will develop their expertise in one discipline area.
- A. Arts listed major: This will provide students with a focused program of study that will develop their practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study.
- B. Arts specified study: This will expose students to several arts disciplines contributing breadth to their knowledge of the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
Entry Requirements
To be considered for entry into this course, students must satisfy the following requirements:
- Minimum age requirements: Students must be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrolment.
- Academic entry requirements: Students must have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent) and achieve the required academic entry score.
- English entry requirements: Students must satisfy English entry requirements in one of the following ways:
- English subject (Australian Year 12 equivalent)
- Language of instruction
- English tests (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL)
- Prerequisite subject requirements: Students must have completed specific prerequisite subjects (e.g., English, mathematics) to be eligible for this course.
English Entry Requirements
The English entry requirements for this course are as follows:
- IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall, with minimum band scores of 6.0 in listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
- TOEFL iBT: 79 overall, with minimum scores of 12 in listening, 13 in reading, 18 in speaking, and 21 in writing.
- Pearson Test of English (Academic): 58 overall, with minimum scores of 50 in listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
Prerequisite Subject Requirements
The prerequisite subject requirements for this course are as follows:
- English: Students must have completed a unit 3 and 4 sequence in English (or equivalent) with a minimum score of 25.
- Mathematics: Students must have completed a unit 3 and 4 sequence in mathematics (or equivalent) with a minimum score of 25.
Fees
The fees for this course are subject to change annually. The current fee for international students is A$53,200 per 48 credit points, which represents a standard full-time course load for a year.
Enrolment Obligations
International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.

International Study Grants
Monash University offers International Study Grants valued at up to A$10,000. These grants are available to international students who are commencing a Monash course.
