Laws and Criminology

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Criminology at Monash University is a double degree that combines a comprehensive overview of crime and its sociocultural impacts with the legal skills needed to address it. Through multidisciplinary units and practical application, this double degree will equip students to solve complex problems and join the next generation of changemakers across law and beyond.

• Location: On-campus at Clayton: Full time
• Duration: 5 years (full time)
• Start date: First semester (February), Second semester (July)

Entry Requirements

To be considered for entry into this course, students must satisfy all of the following requirements:

• Minimum Age: At the time of enrolment in a course at Monash University, students must be at least 17 years of age.
• Academic: All Monash undergraduate courses require students to have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent) and achieve the required academic entry score.
• Additional requirements: Prerequisite subjects and English language requirements must be met.

Prerequisite Subjects

• English: VCE: Score of 35 in English (EAL) or 30 in English (Other); IB Diploma Programme: Score of 5 in English A: Literature or English A: Language and Literature at Standard Level.
• Mathematics: Not specified for this course.
• Science/Other: Not specified for this course.

English Entry Requirements

• Level C: Overall score of 7.0 in IELTS (Academic) with minimum band scores: Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 6.5, and Speaking 6.5.
• Alternative English tests: TOEFL iBT, Pearson Test of English (Academic), C1 Advanced (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English), and C2 Proficiency (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English) are accepted with specific score requirements.

International Entry Requirements

• Secondary education: Specific requirements for qualifications such as GCE A Levels, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and other international qualifications.
• Post-secondary qualifications: Requirements for students with partially completed undergraduate degrees or higher qualifications.
• Higher education: Requirements for students with completed undergraduate degrees or higher qualifications.

Fees

• International fee: $51,600 per 48 credit points (subject to change annually).

Enrolment Obligations

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.

The Monash Guarantee and Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) provide alternative pathways for students who may not meet the standard entry requirements.
