Overview of the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Global Studies

The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Global Studies double degree is built around deeply enriching local and international experiences and has been designed for students who seek to be leaders in applying their knowledge to global challenges.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Age Requirements

At the time of enrolment in a course at Monash University, you must be at least 17 years of age.


Academic Entry Requirements

All Monash undergraduate courses require you to have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent) and achieve the required academic entry score.


International Entry Requirements

For country-specific qualifications, the academic entry score required for this course is detailed below:


  • GCE A Levels: Total score by achieving either a maximum of the best 3 A Level subjects completed within two years or a minimum of the best 2 A Level subjects completed within two years plus the best 2 AS Level subjects.
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme: Total points as awarded on the official final IB Diploma Programme Results issued by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
  • Advanced Placement: Total of the best 2 Advanced Placement examinations as awarded on the Student Score Report issued by the College Board.
  • ACT: The final average calculated by adding the best four section scores achieved in all ACT test attempted for the Math, Science, English, and Reading sections, then dividing the total by four and rounding to the nearest whole number.
  • SAT - Total score out of 1600: Total score by adding the best section scores achieved in ‘Evidence Based Reading and Writing’ and ‘Math’ as awarded on the SAT Score Report issued by the College Board.
  • Pearson International Advanced Levels: Total score by achieving either a maximum of the best 3 International A Level subjects completed within two years or a minimum of the best 2 International A Level subjects completed within two years plus the best 2 International AS Level subjects.

English Entry Requirements

All Monash undergraduate courses require you to satisfy English entry requirements in one of the following ways:


  • English subject (Australian Year 12 equivalent): You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed an English subject in your prior secondary studies that is equivalent to an Australian Year 12 level.
  • Language of instruction: You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed half a year of full-time study (equivalent to 24 Monash credit points) at Australian VET Diploma (AQF level 5) or higher (or equivalent) at an institution where English is the language of instruction, communication, and assessment for all aspects of study for the whole of the educational institution.
  • English tests: If you have not met English entry requirements as outlined above, Monash accepts the following English tests where the entry scores for this course are as follows:
    • IELTS (Academic): 6.5
    • TOEFL iBT: 79
    • Pearson Test of English (Academic): 58
    • C1 Advanced (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English): 176

Prerequisite Subject Requirements

You must satisfy the following prerequisite subject requirements for this course:


  • English: VCE Units 3 and 4 - English (EAL) with a study score of 25 or English (Other) with a study score of 25.

Course Structure

Bachelor of Arts

  • Part A. Arts listed major: This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study.
  • Part B. Arts specified study: This will expose you to several arts disciplines contributing breadth to your knowledge of the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Bachelor of Global Studies

  • Part A. Global studies core: You will compare and contrast a range of global challenges and solutions in different historical, linguistic, cultural, and geographical settings, focusing especially on developing an understanding of effective collaboration, communication, and leadership across a range of contexts.
  • Part B. Global studies specialist knowledge: You will gain in-depth knowledge of a specific facet or facets of global studies through units grounded in a wide variety of humanities and social science disciplines.

Fees

The international fee for this course is A$42,100 per 48 credit points, which represents a standard full-time course load for a year.


Enrolment Obligations

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.
