Business and Banking and Finance

The Bachelor of Business and Banking and Finance is a double degree course that allows students to study complementary subjects to further enhance their employability and develop broad business skills and specialist knowledge in banking and finance.

Entry Requirements

International Entry Requirements

To be considered for entry into this course, you must satisfy all of the following requirements:


  • Minimum Age: At the time of enrolment in a course at Monash University, you must be at least 17 years of age.
  • Academic: All Monash undergraduate courses require you to have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent) and achieve the required academic entry score.
  • Additional Requirements: Prerequisite subjects and English language requirements.

Prerequisite Subjects

You must satisfy the following prerequisite subject requirements for this course:


  • English: VCE: Score of 25 in Units 3 and 4 of English (EAL) or English (Other).
  • Maths: VCE: Score of 22 in Units 3 and 4 of Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics.

English Entry Requirements

All Monash undergraduate courses require you to satisfy English entry requirements in one of the following ways:


  • English Subject: You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed an English subject in your prior secondary studies that is equivalent to an Australian Year 12 level.
  • Language of Instruction: You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed half a year of full-time study at Australian VET Diploma (AQF level 5) or higher.
  • English Tests: If you have not met English entry requirements as outlined above, Monash accepts the following English tests where the entry scores for this course are as follows:
    • IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall, with minimum band scores: Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0.
    • TOEFL iBT: 79 overall, with minimum scores: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18, and Writing 21.

Course Structure

The Bachelor of Business is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course, you complete:


  • Part A. Business Specified Study: This will provide you with a broad foundation for your study of business and expose you to several business disciplines.
  • Part B. Business Listed Major (Excludes Banking and Finance): This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise in one discipline area.
  • Part C. Banking and Finance: The Bachelor of Banking and Finance is a specialist course that develops through the themes of foundation business knowledge, specialist discipline knowledge, and capstone experience.

Fees

Fees are subject to change annually. The international fee for 2025 is A$53,200 per 48 credit points, which represents a standard full-time course load for a year.


Enrolment Obligations

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.
