Program Overview


Program Overview

The Global Business and Advanced Finance program is a two-year, full-time course that provides students with advanced insights into the finance industry and the global business environment. This double master's program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to solutions that address contemporary global issues.


Program Structure

The program is structured in two parts: Part A, Mastery knowledge, and Part B, Electives. Students complete:


  • Part A, Mastery knowledge, which focuses on developing knowledge and skills as a critical and creative professional who can apply their understanding and knowledge of the global business and politics environments.
  • Part B, Electives, which provides students with the opportunity to explore areas as diverse as fintech, environmental finance, and big data.

Course Details

  • Location: On-campus at Caulfield (full-time) or On-campus at Indonesia (full-time)
  • Duration: 2 years (full-time)
  • Start date: Monash Indonesia Term 1 (January)

Entry Requirements

To be considered for entry to this course, students must satisfy the following entrance requirements:


  • Qualifications: An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with a major or minor in finance with at least a high credit (65%) average or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • English entry requirements: Level A IELTS (Academic): 6.5 Overall score, with minimum band scores: Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0
    • Alternatively, students can take the Pearson Test of English (Academic): 58 Overall score, with minimum scores: Listening 50, Reading 50, Speaking 50 and Writing 50
    • Or TOEFL Internet-based test: 79 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18 and Writing 21

  • International fee: The total fees for 2025 for this 24 credit point (6 month full-time) course are: Fees to be advised
  • Scholarships: Monash University offers over 360 types of scholarships, valued at up to $280,000

CFA Affiliation

Monash University is part of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program, and the Master of Advanced Finance is recognised by the CFA Institute. This means the Master of Advanced Finance course covers a minimum of 70 percent of all three topic levels of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge, thus assisting students in preparing for the CFA exams.


Enrolment Obligations

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.
