Overview of the Commerce and Finance Program

The Commerce and Finance program is a comprehensive double degree that connects students to the data and quantitative truths that define how businesses and societies buy and sell goods and services. This program brings an analytical mindset and explores the ins and outs of the commercial landscape and the global banking and finance sector.

Course Details

• Location: On-campus at Clayton: Full time
• Duration: 4 years (full time)
• Start date: First Semester (February), Second Semester (July)
• Fees: Information about fees

Entry Requirements

International Entry Requirements

To be considered for entry into this course, you must satisfy all of the following requirements:

• Minimum Age: At the time of enrolment in a course at Monash University, you must be at least 17 years of age.
• Academic: All Monash undergraduate courses require you to have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent) and achieve the required academic entry score.
• Additional Requirements: Prerequisite subjects and English language requirements

Prerequisite Subjects

• English: VCE: Score of 25 in Units 3 and 4, IB Diploma Programme: Score of 4 in Standard Level or 3 in Higher Level
• Maths: VCE: Score of 25 in Units 3 and 4 of Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics, IB Diploma Programme: Score of 4 in Standard Level or 3 in Higher Level of Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

English Language Requirements

• Level A: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 with minimum band scores of 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing
• Other English Tests: TOEFL iBT, Pearson Test of English (Academic), C1 Advanced (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English), C2 Proficiency (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)

Program Structure

The Commerce and Finance program is structured in three equal parts:

Part A. Commerce Specified Study

This will provide you with a broad foundation for your study of commerce and expose you to several commerce disciplines.

Part B. Commerce Listed Major (Excludes Finance)

This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise in one discipline area.

Part C. Capstone Experience

The capstone unit is designed to consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the study of your specialisation.

Fees and Scholarships

• International Fee: A$53,200 per 48 credit points (subject to change annually)
• Scholarships: Monash University offers one of the most generous scholarship programs in Australia. Find out which one you could be eligible for.

Enrolment Obligations

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.
