Master of Business Information Systems
The Master of Business Information Systems is a degree that equips students with the expertise to design solutions for business information problems and offer strategic advice to organisations. Course Overview
The Master of Business Information Systems is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical foundations of business information systems. Students will learn how to critically analyse business problems, design IT solutions, and measure performance while communicating their findings, rationale, and process.

- Duration: 1.5 or 2 years full-time, depending on prior qualifications

Outcomes of the Master of Business Information Systems
Through the course, students will learn how to:
- Critically analyse business problems, design IT solutions, and measure performance while communicating their findings, rationale, and process
- Engage in business information systems work to a standard aligned to senior professional practice
- Conduct investigations and research into understanding business information systems problems, whether for professional or academic reasons
- Manage ambiguity and complexity in real-world settings
- Work with business information systems in a technology-independent manner, explaining and discussing the major theoretical and professional issues related to business information systems
Entry Requirements
To be considered for entry to this course, students must satisfy the following entrance requirements:
- Minimum Entry Requirements (International students):
- Qualifications: Entry level 1 - An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent), not necessarily in IT, with at least a credit (60%) average
- Qualifications: Entry level 2 - An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline relating to information systems or with an information systems major, with completed studies in foundational programming, databases, systems analysis and design, and an understanding of the major enterprise IT applications, with at least a credit (60%) average
- English entry requirements:
- Level A: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 Overall score, with minimum band scores: Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0, and Speaking 6.0
- Level A: Pearson Test of English (Academic): 58 Overall score, with minimum scores: Listening 50, Reading 50, Speaking 50, and Writing 50
- Level A: TOEFL Internet-based test: 79 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18, and Writing 21

Fees
Fees are subject to change annually. The fee information displayed is based on the 2025 rates and should only be used as a guide. International fee: Fees are per 48 credit points, which represents a standard full-time course load for a year. The fees for 2025 are: A$52,900. Note that there are a limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) available in FIT Postgraduate degrees.

Enrolment Obligations
International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning.
