Embedding Research Use in Educational Practice
Overview
This course is designed for teachers, school leaders, and educators who want to be supported through the process of using research to address a particular issue in their practice. The 21-hour professional learning program, consisting of workshops and self-guided modules, will help participants undertake a project by applying research to a specific issue in their school or organization.
Who Should Attend
- In-service teachers and school leaders from across Australia (e.g., instructional leaders, middle leaders, principals) from all school types, as well as system leaders.
Prerequisites
- The course is open to in-service teachers and school leaders from across Australia.
What Will You Learn
- Module 1: Identifying your project topic and scope
- Module 2: Finding and selecting relevant research
- Module 3: Developing an implementation plan
- Module 4: Project implementation
- Module 5: Supporting and embedding quality research use in context
- Module 6: Project presentation, reflection, and feedback
Each module will consist of a variety of materials and activities, including:
- Workshops: provide an overview of the course and requirements; key knowledge and skills; guidance for the project; and opportunities for discussion, presentation, and feedback
- QURE Assessment tool: enables participants to assess their current research use capability and compare their development over time
- Resources: videos and documents are provided to guide participants through how to find and select relevant research and develop a research-use culture in their school or organization
- Case study examples: illustrations of practice are included as examples of research-use initiatives in schools
- Project guidance: clear and scaffolded guidance is provided to support participants through their projects
- Discussion forum: opportunities are given to connect and share learnings with fellow participants in the course
Recognition
This course has been designed to meet the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers 1.2, 6.2, and 6.3 at the Highly Accomplished and Lead teacher Level.

- Please email us, advising that your organization would like to pay for your registration via tax invoice. We will email you an application form to fill in, and you will need to complete this and return it back to us with a copy of a purchase order from your organization for the course fees. We can then complete your enrollment and organize a tax invoice.
