Overview

This short course in Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) and Research Methods consists of formal lectures, small group discussions, and workshops.

Who Should Attend

This course is targeted at health practitioners (including medical doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals), biomedical and public health researchers, and those working in the health industry who are interested in understanding the basics of clinical research and the principles of evidence-based practice (EBP).

What You Will Learn

• Searching the literature
• Quantitative study designs

Day 2

• Data in EBP
• Assessing bias in studies
• Designing the perfect study
• Critical appraisal techniques

Accelerate Your Qualification

Eligible participants who complete the micro-credential can receive 6 credit points of unspecified credit towards the Master of Public Health. Note: Successful completion of a micro-credential does not guarantee admission into an award course. Prospective students must meet the eligibility and admission requirements for the award course. A micro-credential can only be used as credit towards a single degree on one occasion, and is valid for 7 years.

Instructor

Professor Dragan Ilic

Professor Dragan Ilic is the Deputy Head (Education) of the School of Public Health & Preventive Medicine (SPHPM). He is also the Director of Teaching & Learning and Head of the Medical Education Research & Quality (MERQ) unit at the SPHPM. Dragan is responsible for leading the education portfolio at SPHPM, including undergraduate, post-graduate, and professional education programs. He is actively involved as an educator, coordinating several units in research methods and evidence-based practice (EBP), as well as course coordination. Dragan is Chair of the Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) sub-committee of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Education (FMNHS) committee. Dragan is recognized nationally and internationally for his expertise in public health, EBP, and health professions education research.
