Program Overview


Introduction to Arts and Health Sciences

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Health Sciences is a double degree course that combines the depth and diversity of an Arts humanities and social sciences degree with the multidisciplinary field of Health Sciences. This course provides students with powerful communication and critical thinking skills coupled with a strong technological or scientific base to improve health outcomes for individuals and groups.

Entry Requirements

To be considered for entry into this course, you must satisfy all of the following requirements:


  • Minimum Age: At the time of enrolment in a course at Monash University, you must be at least 17 years of age.
  • Academic: All Monash undergraduate courses require you to have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent) and achieve the required academic entry score.
  • Additional requirements: You must satisfy the following additional requirements for this course:

English Entry Requirements

All Monash undergraduate courses require you to satisfy English entry requirements in one of the following ways:


  • English subject (Australian Year 12 equivalent): You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed an English subject in your prior secondary studies that is equivalent to an Australian Year 12 level (score requirements also apply).
  • Language of instruction: You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed half a year of full-time study (equivalent to 24 Monash credit points) at Australian VET Diploma (AQF level 5) or higher (or equivalent) at an institution where English is the language of instruction, communication, and assessment for all aspects of study for the whole of the educational institution.
  • English tests: If you have not met English entry requirements as outlined above, Monash accepts the following English tests where the entry scores for this course are as follows:
    • IELTS (Academic): 6.5
    • TOEFL iBT: 79
    • Pearson Test of English (Academic): 58
    • C1 Advanced (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English): 176
    • C2 Proficiency (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English): 176

Prerequisite Subject Requirements

You must satisfy the following prerequisite subject requirements for this course:


  • English: You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed an English subject in your prior secondary studies that is equivalent to an Australian Year 12 level (score requirements also apply).

Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts offers you 30+ areas of study to choose from, such as bioethics, psychology, sociology, languages, and communications, and provides you with an essential skill set, effective communication, interpersonal skills, empathy, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and a global outlook.


Bachelor of Health Sciences

The Bachelor of Health Sciences develops through three themes: Personal and professional development; Population, communities, health, and illness; and Scientific basis of health care practice; and allows you to apply scientific approaches to improve health challenges, keeping in mind physiological, behavioral, developmental, social, and environmental aspects of human health.
