How to calculate your entry score

• GCE A Levels
  • Total score by achieving either:
    • A maximum of the best 3 A Level subjects completed within two years.
    • A minimum of the best 2 A Level subjects completed within two years plus the best 2 AS Level subjects.
  • Score grades as follows:
    • A Level subjects: A(a) = 5, A(a) = 5, B(b) = 4, C(c) = 3, D(d) = 2, E(e) = 1, U = 0.
    • AS Level subjects: a(a) =2.5, b(b) =2, c(c) =1.5, d(d) =1, e(e) =0.5, U = 0.
  • N (Narrow failure) & U (Unclassified) results are not to be included in the calculation.
  • A maximum of 1 bonus point is offered when achieving A* in an A Level Subject.
• International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
  • Total points as awarded on the official final IB Diploma Programme Results issued by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
  • The Diploma Certificate issued by the IBO must also be provided.
• Advanced Placement
  • Total of the best 2 Advanced Placement examinations as awarded on the Student Score Report issued by the College Board.
  • Minimum accepted score in each AP examination is 3.
• ACT
  • The final average calculated by adding the best four section scores achieved in all ACT test attempted for the Math, Science, English and Reading sections, then dividing the total by four and rounding to the nearest whole number, as awarded on the Student Report issued by ACT.
• SAT - Total score out of 1600
  • Total score by adding the best section scores achieved in ‘Evidence Based Reading and Writing’ and ‘Math’ as awarded on the SAT Score Report issued by the College Board.
• Pearson International Advanced Levels
  • Total score by achieving either:
    • A maximum of the best 3 International A Level subjects completed within two years.
    • A minimum of the best 2 International A Level subjects completed within two years plus the best 2 International AS Level subjects.

English entry requirements

All Monash undergraduate courses require you to satisfy English entry requirements in one of the following ways:

• English subject (Australian Year 12 equivalent)
  • You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed an English subject in your prior secondary studies that is equivalent to an Australian Year 12 level (score requirements also apply).
• Language of instruction
  • You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed half a year of full time study (equivalent to 24 Monash credit points) at Australian VET Diploma (AQF level 5) or higher (or equivalent) at an institution where English is the language of instruction, communication and assessment for all aspects of study for the whole of the educational institution.

Enrolment Obligations

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course. See standard 8.19 and 8.20 of National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018.

Double Degree Structure

Part A. Business specified study (Business)

This will provide you with a broad foundation for your study of business and expose you to several business disciplines. It will contribute breadth to your knowledge of business and develop your understanding of multi-disciplinary decision making in organisations. It will also give you the opportunity to learn more about each discipline before finalising your choice of major.

Part B. Business listed major (Business)

This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise in one discipline area. You will develop, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of your major area of study.

Part A. Foundational knowledge (International Relations)

You will be introduced to key concepts and knowledge generated by the discipline of International Relations that provides frameworks for understanding and analysing the ways in which power and politics shape the international system, and to address the challenges that they ultimately generate.

Part B. Specialist knowledge (International Relations)

You will develop more specialist knowledge that allows you to engage in specific areas including: i) Peace, conflict and security; ii) Policy and governance; iii) Comparative politics; iv) Development, rights and gender; and v) Climate futures.

Alternative exits

You may be eligible to exit the double degree program and graduate with either a Bachelor of Business (B2000) or a Bachelor of International Relations (A2020) after three years, depending on the units studied.

If you wish to graduate with a Bachelor of Business (B2000) prior to the completion of the double degree you must have completed at least 144 credit points of studies, including all of the requirements in Parts A and B for the Bachelor of Business degree.

If you wish to graduate with a Bachelor of International Relations (A2020) prior to the completion of the double degree you must have completed at least 144 credit points of studies, including all of the requirements in Parts A and B for the Bachelor of International Relations degree.

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.
