Politics, Philosophy and Economics and Arts

Overview

This double degree combines the deep focus of the Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) and the flexibility of the Bachelor of Arts. The PPE is an elite program designed for deep thinkers who want to have a real impact. By studying at the creative intersection between three disciplines - Politics and governance, Philosophy, and Economic analysis - you’ll learn how to transform big ideas into tangible results.

    • Post-secondary qualifications: International entry requirements for post-secondary qualifications can be located in the study credit and admissions eligibility search.
    • Higher education: To be considered on the basis of tertiary study alone, applicants who have completed VCE or equivalent will be required to complete the equivalent of one year (48 credit points) of a recognised university degree and will require an average result of at least 70% (including failed units).
  • English entry requirements:
    • English subject (Australian Year 12 equivalent): You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed an English subject in your prior secondary studies that is equivalent to an Australian Year 12 level.
    • Language of instruction: You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed half a year of full-time study (equivalent to 24 Monash credit points) at Australian VET Diploma (AQF level 5) or higher (or equivalent) at an institution where English is the language of instruction, communication, and assessment for all aspects of study for the whole of the educational institution.
    • English tests: If you have not met English entry requirements as outlined above, Monash accepts the following English tests where the entry scores for this course are as follows:

Course Structure

Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics

  • Part A. Analysis, strategy and leadership: You will develop a foundational understanding of politics, philosophy, and economics as a complex phenomenon, its social, economic, and political impact, and the advantages and limitations associated with different strategies to address it and the perspectives you need to make a real impact.
  • Part B. Politics, philosophy and economics (PPE) specialist knowledge: These units will provide in-depth knowledge of the specific facet of PPE that comprises your specialisation, providing you with the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge needed to critically analyse, communicate, and apply your disciplinary knowledge.

Bachelor of Arts

  • A. Arts listed major: This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study.
  • B. Arts specified study: This will expose you to several arts disciplines contributing breadth to your knowledge of the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Fees

  • International fee: $47,900 per 48 credit points (subject to change annually)

Enrolment Obligations

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.
