International Development Practice (Double Masters with Tata Institute of Social Sciences) - A6038
Course Details
The Master of International Development Practice offers a multi-disciplinary, applied approach to the theory and practice of sustainable human development. Delivered by specialists across the humanities and social sciences, medicine, business and economics, education and law faculties, the degree delivers rigorous research training alongside the critical and practical skills of project design and management and leadership skills.
Entry Requirements
- An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate* discipline, with at least distinction (70%) average.
- An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) and an Australian graduate certificate (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline*, with at least a credit (60%) average in both qualifications.
- *cognate discipline includes humanities or social sciences
Course Structure
The course is structured in two parts.
Part A. Core master's study
These studies will immerse you in international development practice at graduate level and draw on best practices within the broad realm of international development theory, practice and research to address questions ranging from the causes of inequality and disparity, evolving aid and development thought and practice, to the impact of politics, economics, culture, history and natural resources human development.
Part B. Broadening expertise
On transferring to the partner institution (Tata Institute of Social Sciences), students will complete studies equivalent to 48 credit points of units in the Monash Master of International Development Practice as per the requirements of the TISS course.

Fees are subject to change annually.
- International fee: $43,400
Scholarships
We offer over 360 types of scholarships, valued at up to $280,000. Some scholarships offer one-off payments while others continue for the length of your course.
Enrolment Obligations
International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than one third (33%) of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students must enrol in at least one unit that is not by distance and/or online in each compulsory study period unless the student is completing the last unit of their course.
