Program Overview
BA (Hons) Business and Data Science
The BA (Hons) Business and Data Science program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to bridge the gap between data and decision-making in business. The program focuses on practical study, new technologies, and a prime location, providing students with opportunities to access industry events, talks, and tours.
Overview
The program is a three-year, full-time course that covers a range of topics, including organizational culture and reputation, money, finance, and decisions, markets and legal frameworks, data-informed decision-making, and exploring industry and entrepreneurship. Students will also have the opportunity to choose from a range of special electives and language modules.
Year 1
In the first year, students will study the following subject core modules:
- Organisational Culture and Reputation: This module explores the key characteristics, types of management, and intertwined nature of organizational culture and reputation.
- Money, Finance and Decisions: This module introduces students to the theory and practical application of business techniques to make successful and informed decisions.
- Markets and Legal Frameworks: This module develops students' understanding of the legal implications and economic reasoning that underpins entrepreneurial and business activity.
- Data Informed Decision Making: This module introduces students to the process of data collection and analysis, enabling them to make better business decisions.
- Exploring Industry and Entrepreneurship: This module provides students with an introduction to the changes being experienced in the world of work and the scope of real-world professional activities in relation to their course.
Year 2
In the second year, students will study the following subject core modules:
- Sustainable Operations: This module emphasizes the core theme of sustainability, addressing the economic, social, and environmental aspects of operations over time.
- Data Science Tools and Techniques: This module provides students with applied knowledge of descriptive and predictive analytics and practical skills in tools such as Power BI, SPSS, and machine learning tools.
- Coding: This module equips students with a core understanding of the key concepts and techniques required for coding.
- Entrepreneurial Challenge: This module develops students' entrepreneurial thinking and enables them to grow their own or others' entrepreneurial ideas.
- Placement: This module gives students the opportunity to experience industry and entrepreneurship in an external organization.
- Industry Challenge: This module provides students with an insight into the culture, practices, and commercial contexts of an industry, field, or sector.
Year 3
In the third year, students will study the following subject core modules:
- Disruptive Strategies and Models: This module explores how organizations can harness technologies to disrupt and create new business models.
- Contemporary Approaches to Data Science: This module provides students with a curation and culmination of prior knowledge gained from other modules in the degree, enabling them to make informed decisions to improve the future.
- Major Project I and II: These modules provide students with the opportunity to apply their discipline-specific and interdisciplinary learning to a topic of their choice, resulting in a substantial piece of work.

Fees
The tuition fee for the program is £26,000 per year, fixed for the duration of the course. A non-refundable advance deposit of £1,000 (UK students) or £4,000 (non-UK students) is required to secure a place on the program.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Three GCE A-levels at grade A-C
- 24 points in the International Baccalaureate
- US High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 2.5 PLUS one of the following:
- Three AP tests with an average grade of 3 (or two, with an average grade of 4)
- SAT score of 1100 (550+ in both subjects)
- ACT with a composite score of 26 (20 in each section)
- Dual Enrolment and College credits (1st year) – 30, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Equivalent qualifications as deemed acceptable by the University and set out in the Admissions Guide and UK ENIC.
English Language Requirements
Students must meet the minimum English proficiency requirement through one of the following qualifications:
- GCSE English language: C (4)
- IB SL or HL English A: 4
- IB HL English B: 4
- US HSD (studied in a majority English-speaking country) Grade 11 and above English: C
- IELTS Academic: 6.0 overall and 5.5 in each component
