Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing program is designed to introduce students to the principles of fashion marketing, including the role of marketing in creating competitive advantage within the fashion industry. Students will learn about the marketing planning process, the external and internal marketing environment, segmentation, targeting, positioning, and the marketing mix.


Program Structure

The program consists of three years of study, with the first year focusing on the fundamentals of fashion marketing, the second year exploring the challenges of the contemporary retail environment, and the third year delving into the future of the fashion industry.


Year 1

  • Fashion Marketing Principles and Practice: This module introduces students to the principles of fashion marketing, including the marketing planning process, the external and internal marketing environment, segmentation, targeting, positioning, and the marketing mix.
  • Fashion Images: This module explores how images are used as a means of communication in fashion and how the fashion industry promotes its products.
  • Fashion Society and Culture: This module introduces students to fundamental developments in European fashion from the 18th Century to contemporary times.
  • The Fashion Consumer and Trends: This module studies the fashion consumer and trends in consumer markets and products.
  • Exploring Industry and Entrepreneurship: This module provides an introduction to the changes being experienced in the world of work and the scope of real-world professional activities in relation to the course.
  • Learning Perspectives: This module encourages students to become collaborative, critical, and reflective learners.
  • London Perspectives: This interdisciplinary module introduces students to the relationships between a range of subject areas and London.
  • Global Perspectives: This module completes a number of practical group tasks inspired by contemporary intercultural, political, and social issues.
  • Languages: Students can choose from Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish, all offered from beginner to advanced level.

Year 2

  • Fashion Marketing Communications: This module studies the planning and strategy development process in relation to fashion marketing, promotion, and communication.
  • Innovation in the Fashion Environment: This module extends students' knowledge and skills of fashion marketing and promotion, focusing on the challenges of the contemporary retail environment.
  • Fashion Branding: This module explores contemporary fashion brands and examines strategies used to create strong brand equity.
  • Entrepreneurial Challenge: This module develops entrepreneurial thinking about how to grow students' own or others' entrepreneurial ideas.
  • Placement: This module gives students the opportunity to experience industry and entrepreneurship in an external organization.
  • Industry Challenge: This module provides students with the challenge and pace of the world of work through a real-world or live project.
  • Special Electives: Students can choose from a range of special electives, including Creativity and Imagination, Being Human, Creating a Brand Identity, and more.

Year 3

  • Fashion Futures: This module aims to challenge established norms and ways of working and explore ethical, environmental, and commercial dilemmas facing the fashion industry.
  • Professional Practice and Portfolio: This module helps students consider their future, plan, and prepare to achieve their goals.
  • Major Project I and II: These modules are the culmination of students' studies, where they design a self-directed project that reflects their interests and career aspirations.
  • Special Electives: Students can choose from a range of special electives, including Creative Futures, Essential Leadership Skills, Brand Me, and more.

Admission Requirements

  • Two GCE A-levels at grade A-C
  • 24 points in the International Baccalaureate
  • US High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 2.5 PLUS one of the following:
    • Two AP tests with an average grade of 3
    • SAT score of 1000 (500+ in both subjects)
    • ACT with a composite score of 23 (20 in each section)
    • Dual Enrolment and College credits (1st year) – 20, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Equivalent qualifications as deemed acceptable by the University and set out in the Admissions Manual and UK NARIC.

English Language Requirements

  • Minimum English proficiency requirement through one of the following qualifications (or equivalent):
    • GCSE: English language, C (4)
    • IB SL or HL: English A, 4
    • IB HL: English B, 4
    • US HSD (studied in a majority English-speaking country): Grade 11 and above English, C
    • IELTS: Academic, 6.0 overall and 5.5 in each component

Tuition Fees

  • £23,000 per year, fixed for the duration of the course (September 2025 or January 2026 start)
  • £24,500 per year, fixed for the duration of the course (September 2026 or January 2027 start)
