Program Overview
The Electric Vehicle Technician certificate prepares students for employment in the EV department in independent repair shops, and specialty or customized shops. Today’s automobile is designed and engineered at a higher level of technology than ever before, producing a high demand for trained repair technicians who can meet the increased technical challenges.
Program Objectives
Electric Vehicle Technician certificate graduates will:
- be prepared for employment in automotive dealership service centers, independent repair shops, and specialty or customized shops
- diagnose electronic malfunctions and performance problems and repair equipment
- operate precision automotive diagnostic and repair equipment/software
- use high voltage tools and equipment skillfully and safely
Program Requirements
The program consists of two quarters:
Quarter One
- AUTO 250 Electric Vehicle Technology I 15 credits
Quarter Two
- AUTO 260 Electric Vehicle Technology II 15 credits
Total Program Credits
The total program credits required for completion are 30 credits.

Lake Washington Institute of Technology does not offer every course each quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to consult the Class Schedule and work out an individual schedule with an advisor. Any developmental coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.
