BA (Hons) Business Management and Spanish

Overview

This course gives you the opportunity to study business management in combination with Spanish. The world of business is full of opportunities, and this practical course will help you find your calling in international business with modules ranging from consultancy to enterprise.

The course places language learning within the wider context of Spanish studies, including culture, society, literature, film, and history. The language modules emphasize communicating effectively and developing transferable skills such as translating, interpreting, and interview techniques, with practical language classes embracing speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Year 1

In Year 1, you will study units designed to give you the key skills and ideas needed for the rest of your degree.

Year 2

In Year 2, you will take further language and business units.

Year 3 (Study Abroad)

Our Spanish studies students are required to spend a year abroad in Spain. The experience of being immersed in another culture for several months is one our students find both beneficial and rewarding.

Year 4

In your final year, you will study a mix of modules that cover language, Spanish culture and society, management, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

Study and Assessment

  • Study: 25% lectures, seminars, or similar; 75% independent study
  • Assessment:
    • Year 1: 87.5% coursework; 12.5% exams
    • Year 2: 100% coursework
    • Year 3: 100% coursework
    • Year 4: 66.7% coursework; 33.3% exams

Placements

If you take Spanish as a major or equal subject, you will have the opportunity to spend your third year in Spain, and we will assist you in choosing from a wide choice of partner universities or other approved organisations where you can study or work.


Entry Requirements

  • Typical offer: 104-112 UCAS tariff points
  • IELTS score: 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of course start date
  • UK students:
    • Level 3 qualifications: 104-112 UCAS tariff points
    • A level Spanish at Grade C or above, or accepted equivalent, is required for all applicants
  • International students:
    • IB Diploma: Pass with a minimum overall score of 26 or minimum 104 UCAS Tariff points from three Higher Level subjects, including H5 in Spanish
    • IELTS: 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of course start date
